News & Rumors

American Abstract

May 6th, 2008

I’m going to be very busy for the next few weeks due to finals at school. That means this is going to be the last post till May 20th, or possibly May 27th. I know you’ll miss my illustrated words woven together like…

…a master wordsmith would weave words. My life’s like being a blacksmith, but with words. Weeee-ords. I still need to set up a print and pdf version for issue two so my loyal fans can have access to it before it’s published online. EeeeeEEyip. That’s going to be the major thing I’ll be working on for the site the next couple weeks.

For the painting this week I present a somber piece, to represent the sadness you must feel for my upcoming 3 week newsletter hiatus. It’s called “American Abstract” and …it weez dun n oyles.

Not today, my friends.

The Old Bastard’s Manifesto

April 22nd, 2008

motherdaughter.jpg

This is titled “Mother/Daughter”, it’s done in graphite.

In other news I ran across a fantastic essay online, I was told it was written by the legendary Warren Ellis. I’m not sure if that’s true or not but I found it quite entertaining and insightful. It’s kind of like a comic writer’s interpretation of King Henry V’s “cry havoc and let’s slip the dogs of war” speech. By the way, if your unfamiliar with Ellis’ work, google him and buy some of his books, their great.  This manifesto was written around the turn of the century. Well, here’s a link to it….

El Primo y Francisco Lezcano

April 15th, 2008

El Primo y Francisco Lezcano 14″x18″. I just watched “Escaflowne: The Movie”…lame! Otaku Anime chick flick. I also watched “Justice League: The New Frontier”… surprisingly… not good.

Next week lameness will more than likely continue to rule the day.

It’s Alan Alda!

April 8th, 2008

portrait_of_alan_alda.jpg

Here’s a painting of one of America’s most beloved icons, can you guess who it is, my kiddies? That’s right, it’s Alan Alda! I have titled this masterwork “HAWK EYE”! Till next week my fine young Cherokees.

APRIL FOOLS!

April 1st, 2008

untitled10.jpg

Happy April Fools’ Day! Today I bring you a painting inspired by one of America’s greatest late night infomercials. I’ve titled this piece “American Woman”. The work I feel is self-explanatory and, in general, comments on our varied hypocritical beliefs on empowerment we hold in our society. Other than that, this week begins part two of HOW TO BE BULLETPROOF entitled SWEAT’N BULLETS. I’m looking forward to seeing what people (meaning you) think of it. Unfortunately, I’ve read some of my earlier posts and was surprised to find them unfunny and poorly written. To any of you who suffered through them I deeply apologize and will try to do better in the future.

COMBAT!

March 25th, 2008

combat2.jpeg

The painting for display this week, my wee children, is entitled “COMBAT”. SCREAM WICKEDLY my young fawn for anger is released from my hand! It was done half in acrylic and half in oil. I think the initial image is from Street Fighter 2 staring Sunny Chiba.

This week is also a milestone for my site! The entire first issue of the magnificent HOW TO BE BULLETPROOF online graphic novel will be entirely available for viewing online this Thursday. But don’t let that stop ya from downloading off WOWIO, The download is FREE for you and the only way I can keep this site going fiscally. Check out my merch at Café Press too, I’m pretty happy with the items I got on there, let me know what you think.

Next week the infamous and unknown issue two sequence will begin starting with a fantastic advertisement I designed and then …well, you’ll see. Cowboy up and take ‘em my featherless calf…till next week.

GODZILLA!

March 18th, 2008

This is how I wish our world was… one of action and adventure and massive angry monsters. But that’s not how it is, and I’ll just have to deal with that on my own. Emotions arise such as anger, frustration…regret…fear…and possibly arousal?

Next week I’ll be showing more television paintings again getting this news section back to normal. Other than that, I’ve been real busy studying and trying my best to get more and more pages completed for the ten or so readers I have. I think.

Anyways, issue two is done and looks great and I’ll have it available on INDY PLANET soon enough. And for those who are patient I’ll have it on WOWIO too. And for those who don’t really care, it will be available very soon online one page a week over the next many moons. Be strong and forthright.

Rock & Rule!

March 11th, 2008

138_rockandrule.jpg

Jack Shen introduced me to one of the greatest feats of 2-D animation ever penned by the hands of man and/or woman. The title of this lost relic of a bygone era is ROCK & RULE!

Some it’s animation I think is equivalent to that of AKIRA, yet this film was done by a bunch of Canucks from Canada circa 1983, six years before Akira graced the screen. It is a beautiful experience to watch this film, a film that was far ahead of it’s time. To see it’s trailer and other clips click this LINK!

Other than that I’ve been extremely busy with school and have had little time for art work unfortunately. Besides that I have finally decided to add a contact e-mail for anyone who wants to write me proclaiming how great my comic is. All other comments concerning my epic serialization online will be ignored. You can find my e-mail below in the footer of every page on this magnificent site entitled WWW.HOWTOBEBULLETPROOF.COM!

Very busy, I have no time to discuss this…
